Thankful

With crazy work schedules and miles between us, getting the family together is something that is rare.  I have been looking forward to Thanksgiving for weeks, and this year was one of my most favorite Thanksgivings ever! Our household grew by two this year, Amy + Mark are the newlyweds and Abbi is the newest member of my brother's family.

Thanksgiving this year was no different than the rest, as the ladies prepared the tasty meal and the men watched football. My dad finally pulled everyone together for a bonfire that he has been talking about for years, and we topped the night off with smores by the fire and pumpkin pie.

We have not gotten together for a family photo since Olan Mills rolled through the church about 10 years ago, so I'm thankful that Sarah's boyfriend was there to snap a picture for us!

It was a fairly cold (finally!) day, and was actually drizzling off and on, but I'm thankful everyone dealt with it for a few moments so I could get an updated portrait of everyone:

The sun decided to peek through for a minute! Which made me smile, but apparently my Dad didn't care either way :)

My favorite from the bonfire of David & I:

Top 10 Things I'm Thankful for This Year:
1. Salvation. God is good. My quick prayer is always, "Lord, thank you for the love you have shown me, the forgiveness you have given me, and the grace I do not deserve"
2. The husband. He is so so good to me. I am very thankful for his love.
3. Family.  My rock, my supporters, my biggest fans.
4. My job. Working full-time and running a business can get a little crazy sometimes, but in the current economy I am so thankful for a steady paycheck that the full-time job provides.
5. My clients! You, you, and YOU! Seriously, you guys rock and I love every second of my job.  You all have trusted me with your memories of the year-- from your bellies to babies-turning-one, engagements to weddings.. you . are . awesome. As this business continues to grow I am looking forward to learning more about your families.
6. For the good people. I was at Food Lion the other day when a middle-aged woman paid for the groceries that belonged to the soldier in front of her.  I had to quickly blink away tears..but was thankful for the reminder that there ARE still good, honest people out there.
7. Heath. To be able to use all 5 senses..to walk, to run..the little things that mean so much.
8. Friends.  Both in the business and not, it's nice to have people to lean on.
9. Technology.  A few days in the country with spotty internet and phone service makes me very thankful to be back with the full bar service and high speed internet, but I am thankful in general for the ability to connect more easily to people with the latest technology.
10.  To live in the home of the free, land of the brave.  For our soldiers (including my brother in law!) who is currently overseas fighting for our country.

Meggie & Josh { Married

Josh sent Meggie flowers that said, "Meet me behind your parents house at 4pm" - This was the morning of their wedding, and they were to be getting married in a few hours! The day was very hot.  Very, very hot, but we all survived and it was a wonderful celebration.  Meggie's mother made her beautiful dress, and it even included pockets!

There is something incredibly romantic about black and white images..

The Luckiest

"And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face?
Now I see it everyday
And I know
That I am
The luckiest
I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you"

David,
I love you.
Today you turn the big 2-7!
I am excited to see what the next year has in store for us, but I want to make sure it doesn't pass as quickly as this past year has.  Thank you for choosing to spend your life with me.  You really are the best husband around.  I couldn't imagine anyone else standing in your shoes.

Happy Birthday Babe!

Corbin Family { Richmond Virginia Family Photographer

I love that this location is a little hidden gem in Hopewell and I love that clients are willing to explore options other than Maymont for their sessions!  Maymont is gorgeous, but there are so many other great locations in the area.

Ray is in the Army and they will be moving to Germany very soon.  My husband's family was stationed in Germany for a while and I'm sure they'll have a great time.  Their son LOVED the water, thankfully we saved that for last because we wouldn't have been able to get him away had we started there.  What a sweet family!
